KMV Acquire Majority in Austrian Waldquelle

Prague/Karlovy Vary/Vienna, 13 May 2008 – Just 9 months after acquiring capital interest in the leading Austrian mineral water producer, Karlovarské minerální vody, a.s. (KMV) has increased its interest in Waldquelle Kobersdorf from 25.1 to 75% with immediate effect. And Raiffeisen Landesbank Burgenland (RLB) will continue to hold its 25% interest in Waldquelle.
"We made the right decision last August," Julius Marhold, the General Director of RLB, the former owner, confirmed. "The entry of KMV has not only brought specific improvement of economic results to Waldquelle, but also new prospects. The production of beverages increased to 111.3 million litres," Marhold explained. The transfer of the know how of the leading Czech producer, particularly in the area of increasing production effectiveness and final product distribution, was pointed out as the major contribution of the co-operation with KMV by the Director of Waldquelle Kobersdorf, Herbert Czech.
Alessandro Pasquale, Member of the Board of Directors of KMV, who manages KMV activities in Austria, commented on the acquisition of the majority interest in Waldquelle: "RLB managed to revitalize Waldquelle in recent years and thereby to lay foundations for its current success. Co-operation with our Austrian partners has proved to be quite fruitful, so the increased interest in the company is merely its logical consequence. The new ownership structure will no doubt be beneficial to the partners and their joint venture in both financial terms and in strengthening their position on the market." In general, we may say that the contribution of the international reputation of KMV, as a leading Czech company with European ambitions, is even more significant.
In co-operation with KMV, Waldquelle Kobersdorf achieved a turnover of € 17.8 million last year, which is 12% higher compared to 2006. Thanks to the co-operation with KMV, Waldquelle also succeeded in embedding its second place on the Austrian foodstuff market with an overall share of 16.2%. Moreover, the economic results of Waldquelle are expected to further improve in 2008. Waldquelle has 41 employees and it supplies its products exclusively to the retail distribution network in Austria.
The Ronaldsay Group, the owner of KMV, Dobrá voda and Poděbradka, increased its turnover in 2007 by 5.3% to CZK 5.1 billion. The total beverage production grew to more than 900 million litres over the same period. The Ronaldsay Holding has thereby confirmed its exclusive position as the leader of the Czech market in the soft-drink production segment, and the Group, as one of the leading European producers of soft drinks, thus significantly contributes to the goodwill of the Czech food industry in the world.
