on the Occasion of the 11th Year of Canoe Mattoni

Once again, already the 11th year of Canoe Mattoni will be held in Karlovy Vary from 13 June to 15 June. And for the seventh time Karlovy Vary will once again host the Wildwater World Cup races. The opening of the World Cup on the Teplá River will feature all the top-notch wildwater racers who will compete on a race course that is quite unique because it leads directly through the historical heart of the town and imparts a matchless atmosphere to the competition, as well as attractiveness for spectators. The 2003 European Championship and the 2006 World Championship more than evince the long-running tradition and the world-class level of the competition held in Karlovy Vary.
The 6.5 km Wildwater World Cup Race in Classic (WW 2-3) will be held on 14 June, it will start in Březová and finish in front of the Thermal Hotel, where the sprint race will also finish. The start of the sprint race will be at the Mill Colonnade and the length of the race course is 600 metres (WW 2-3). A very popular part of the wildwater event is the Canoe Mattoni Open, a race designated for registered professionals as well as non-registered water lovers, who can measure their strength with the world's top-notch racers on the same water course (20 m3/sec). Waterman sports will not be presented only on a world-class competition level, but also as an attractive show for the spectators. The programme includes, for example, the Romantic Night Cruise designated for the general public, the Mattoni Rodeo Show, or the Eskimo Roll Competition.
Apart from sports excitement, this year will also offer an attractive cultural programme to all visitors within the Canoe Mattoni Fest. During the 3-day programme from Friday to Sunday, leading Czech and Slovak singers and bands will appear on the stage in front of the Thermal Hotel, such as Lucie Bílá, Petr Kolář, Chinaski, Meky Žbirka, or Chinaski and Kryštof, as well as numerous celebrities from the music scene. Moreover, the programme will also feature entertainment and competitions for children and their parents. The highlight of the whole event will be the Sunday Karlovy Vary Carnival featuring a parade of masks and allegorical vehicles, which is organized on the occasion of the 650th anniversary of the foundation of Karlovy Vary, and above all the Mattoni Water Carnival, a competition of quite untraditional vessels competing for the main prize of CZK 200,000.
